Steve Vernon is a research scholar at the Stanford Center on Longevity, and is president of Rest-of-Life Communications. For more than 35 years, Vernon has helped Fortune 1000 employers design, manage and communicate their retirement programs. Vernon writes a twice-weekly blog column on retirement strategies for CBS MoneyWatch. He has recently published his seventh book: “Retirement Game-Changers: Strategies for a Healthy, Financially Secure, and Fulfilling Long Life” (Rest-of-Life Communications, 2018). Vernon currently serves as a member of the Institutional Retirement Income Council. He is a fellow in the Society of Actuaries and graduated summa cum laude from University of California, Irvine, with a double major in mathematics and social science.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND FACTOR INVESTING, WHY IT WORKS AND HOW TO IMPLEMENT

Doug Fabian is an astute market observer and will begin his talk by discussing the post-election environment for the markets from the recent election and from a historical point of view.

Factor investing is a scientifically based approach to investing in certain segments of the market that can be easily identified. The results based on over 80 years of stock market history and peer-reviewed academic research, are amazing. Fabian will share the science, logic and research of five different factor models that can be implemented using exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Factor investing can improve your results and lower the volatility of your portfolio for a smoother ride in up and down markets.
