He recently retired as chief investment strategist for the Leuthold group, and prior to that he served as chief investment strategist at Wells Capital Management where he worked for 20 years. He is an avid speaker and writer on the economy and the markets and frequently appears on CNBC and Bloomberg TV. He earned a bachelor’s degree and a doctoral degree in economics from Iowa State University. His current thinking on the economy and the markets can be found at Paulsenperspectives.Substack.com

As chief investment officer of Cambria Investment Management, he runs Cambria’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs), separate accounts and hedge funds. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in engineering science and biology.
